House Of Breakfast, tucked into the stretch of W Olympic Blvd just west of Koreatown, carries the steady rhythm of a classic American diner with a distinctly local flavor. This is not a place for rushed mornings but rather those leisurely weekend breakfasts or late starts when you want a serious meal to settle into. The interior hums with the clinks of coffee cups and the sizzle from the grill where eggs and pancakes are made fresh to order, drawing a crowd that appreciates straightforward, hearty food with familiar flavors.

The menu leans into comfort staples like buttermilk pancakes, French toast, and corned beef hash, each plate feeling like a warm, satisfying nod to traditional diner fare. The Portuguese Sausage Rice and Eggs stands out as a hearty option that reflects the diverse palate of the neighborhood. It’s also worth noting the hashbrowns, which seem to have local devotees, and the way the cook handles the griddle with attentive speed has earned a quiet respect among regulars.

Expect the spot to be busy during breakfast and brunch hours, often with a line spilling onto the sidewalk. Seating isn’t fancy or spacious — think counter stools and small booths — which lends a cozy, intimate feel. The woman managing the seating keeps a steady flow, so it’s a matter of patience and good timing. This kind of place suits folks who don’t mind a bustling atmosphere where interactions with the staff aren’t all smiles, but genuine and no-nonsense — the “take it or leave it” vibe that comes with longstanding neighborhood institutions.

House Of Breakfast feels like a local standby for those chasing down the kind of no-frills, flavorful breakfast that sticks with you into the afternoon. It’s a spot best for diners who enjoy straightforward food done well, small-scale communal energy, and a slice of everyday Los Angeles morning life.

Unique food and great taste! Apart from the food they have a "take it or leave it" approach, so set your expectations properly.

A great place to have classic American breakfast. The hashbrowns are the best and their pancake flavor is hard to beat. It’s always busy and all you need to do is wait your turn outside and the lady in charge will give you a table once there’s free room.

Alright; I'll try to be transparent. I love this place and it has my heart. The first time I was here I was so hungry I ate $40.50 with of food. However, I had only brought $40 cash and nothing else. The lady was nice about it and I felt embarrassed. The food is amazing so the embarrassment didn't stop me from becoming a regular. Now, some months later, I brought my mom and dad to eat here but it was very packed and a couple was taking forever to clear the bar area, which they had conveniently sat in the very middle of. Now they say my parents and I separately which bothered me quite a bit but thankfully the couple left before my food came out. Another table cleared, and my parents began moving their stuff to another table. This upset the owner, who said she had to clean. So my parents went back and eventually they sat them in the bar area, next to me. After this the owner seemed very cross and even served another unrelated customer with subtle disdain. I had never experienced this personally and I really don't judge her for what happened. I was simply surprised and felt embarrassed by what my parents had done. I really hope in some way she knew we were sorry but I guess it's too late for that now. We left good tip but that was more for the lovely Hispanic lady that waited us, and hopefully for the cook too. I personally will come to this place until it doesn't exist but the experience I had that morning was very strange and uncomfortable. Best breakfast for $20 that you'll find in all of Los Angeles.

Love this place since the seventies. My dad used to bring me and my brother here best pancakes in town! Also they have daily specials chicken teriyaki to die for.

Intimate diner with the sights, smells and tastes in your face. Sit at the counter. Yummy pancakes. Eggs and stir fried rice is a must. The cook at the grill is a maestro!

Best place for pancakes made from scratch plus delicious lunches. Since I lived alone I went there several times a week. Linda was always cheerful and helpful with everyone's orders. Delicious and reasonable.
